Financial Accounting Manager

About the Role

Our client is a WA Government organisation based in the Perth CBD. They are currently seeking a Financial Accounting Manager to come in and join their team on a 6 month temp contract.

Candidates for this role must have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, business or commerce OR CA/CPA qualification
• Proven experience in a similar role, with ability to effectively manage a team
• Ability to Effectively manage an accounting function and apply contemporary accounting principles at a senior level in a large business organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Statutory Reporting & Compliance: Lead the preparation of monthly and annual accounts ensuring full compliance with Accounting Standards, FMA, and Treasurer’s Instructions.

• Taxation & Regulatory Oversight: Manage all statutory tax requirements and regulatory returns, acting as the primary GST technical expert for insurance transactions.

• Audit & Internal Controls: Develop financial policies and internal controls, coordinating with auditors to monitor and implement audit recommendations.

• Financial Operations Management: Oversee the delivery of core functions including debt recovery, procurement, accounts payable, and travel administration.

• Strategic Budgeting & Partnership: Contribute to Finance business plans and budgets while maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Team Leadership & Development: Supervise and coach a team of three, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with the Commission’s core values.

About You

You will be an experienced Financial Accounting Manager with proven experience and reliability in previous roles.

The successful candidate will possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, business or commerce OR CA/CPA qualification
• Proven experience in a similar role, with ability to effectively manage a team
• Ability to Effectively manage an accounting function and apply contemporary accounting principles at a senior level in a large business organisation.
